    Hi all,

I just got into the ebook technology last week. I found this amazing app which allow us to add read aloud to an epub. I created an epub with read aloud feature by following the tutorial.

The read aloud works perfectly on Apple Books and Kobo. When I upload the same epub onto Google Play Books, it doesn't play the narration of the read aloud. I received the error message, "Can't play the audio narration for this book. Check your internet connection." when opened the epub on Play Books app. I also checked the epub with epubchecker, it returned no file error.

    Thanks,
    CK

I don't think Google Play Books supports EPUB3 read aloud. Nothing we can do about this...

It seems like you've encountered an issue with the read aloud feature in your ePub when using Google Play Books. The error message you received, "Can't play the audio narration for this book. Check your internet connection," suggests that there might be compatibility or settings issues specific to Google Play Books. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

Check Audio Format and Compatibility: Ensure that the audio format you used in your ePub is supported by Google Play Books. Google Play Books may have specific requirements for audio formats. MP3 is a widely supported format for audio narration in ePubs.

Metadata: Verify that you have included the necessary metadata within your ePub file to indicate that it contains audio narration. This metadata should be correctly formatted to be recognized by Google Play Books.

Testing on Different Devices: Try opening your ePub with read aloud on different devices and browsers using Google Play Books. Sometimes, issues may be device-specific or browser-specific.

Internet Connection: Double-check your internet connection to ensure it's stable. Even though the error message mentions checking your internet connection, it may not always be the root cause, but it's worth confirming.

Google Play Books Settings: Check the settings within the Google Play Books app to ensure that audio playback is enabled and not blocked by any settings.

File Validation: Although you mentioned that you used epubchecker and found no file errors, it's a good practice to double-check your ePub file for any potential issues. Use the latest version of epubchecker and make sure that there are no warnings or issues that might affect audio playback.

Update App: Ensure that you are using the latest version of the Google Play Books app. Sometimes, updating the app can resolve compatibility issues.

Contact Google Support: If the issue persists after trying these steps, it might be worthwhile to reach out to Google Play Books support. They can provide specific guidance and assistance for resolving issues related to their platform.

Alternative Formats: If you can't resolve the issue with Google Play Books, consider providing alternative formats for your readers, such as a separate audio version of your book that can be accessed through other platforms or apps designed specifically for audiobooks.

By following these steps and potentially reaching out to Google Play Books support, you should be able to identify and address the issue preventing the read aloud feature from working correctly on their platform. wii roms
