App Store: Minimum Functionality requirements

  1. last week

I'm having trouble with my app submission. It's a children's book created with PubCoder, including interactive elements like narration and sound effects on tap. This is the first of a planned 5-app series.

    Apple rejected it, stating:
    Guideline 4.2 - Design - Minimum Functionality
Your app is primarily a book and is therefore not appropriate for the App Store.
    Next Steps
Books should be submitted to the Apple Book Store

well, come on.... suddenly a book app is not an app anymore?
    Any advise? Similar experience?

    Hi Ran,
sadly yes, been there, done that. :(
It happens when you have bad luck and pick the "wrong" reviewer. You can usually work around this by persuading the reviewer that some kind of interactions or features won't be doable on iBooks, e.g. multi-language book or something else. It is annoying, i know.

  3. Well, that's sad, especially since my app actually works perfectly well on Apple Books. Anyway, I'm adding some memory and cologing games to satisfy the wrong reviewer...
